Aggerhütte is a hamlet that belongs to the town of Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
geography
Aggerhütte is located in the far north of the city of Lohmar. Surrounding towns and hamlets are Kombach in the north, Broich in the northeast, Weyerhof in the east, Hasenberg and Kulhoven in the southeast, Honsbach in the south, Agger and Grünagger in the southwest, Stöcken and Breideneichen in the west and Bombach and Klein-Bombach in the northwest.
The Agger flows east past Aggerhütte.
history
In 1885 Aggerhütte had 14 residents who lived in two houses.
Until 1969, Aggerhütte belonged to the previously independent municipality of Wahlscheid .
The Aggerhütte
The eponymous Erzhütte originated in the 18th century to the smelting of copper ores . In 1854 an ore processing plant for the Aurora , St. Georg and Volta mines was built here , but it was shut down in the 1870s. In 1903 an "extraction plant" for degreasing bones with a daily capacity of 20 tons was set up in the buildings of the hut. The defatted bones were used to make bone meal . Production was stopped in 1940.
The buildings of the "Extractionswerk Aggerhütte" are under monument protection.
