In the via ferrata

The path without borders ( Italian Via Senza Confini ) is a via ferrata on the Frischenkofel ( Italian Cellon ) in the Plöckenpass area of Carinthia , Austria .

description

The via ferrata was laid out in 1995 by mountain guides from the Kötschach-Mauthen section of the PES from the Cellon shoulder over the southeast ridge to the summit ridge of the Frischenkofel and leads over around 350 meters in altitude. Due to its challenging view and exposed climbing areas, it is one of the most famous and most frequently used climbs on the Plöckenpass. Its difficulty rating is mostly B / C , the key passages are rated D.

The entrance is to the east of the historic Steinbergerweg via ferrata , which leads through the eastern gully to the summit area of the Frischenkofel; However, due to its grassy and brittle rocky passages, it lost its importance after the completion of the path without borders .

The Cellonschulter can be reached via the normal route on the Italian side, or the via ferrata Oberst Gressel and Cellonstollen leading from the Plöckenpass directly to the shoulder .
