The Wertheim area is an almost 4,000 hectare landscape protection area in the area of the cities of Freudenberg , Külsheim and Wertheim and the municipality of Werbach in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . It was designated by ordinance of December 18, 1979 (LSG number 1.28.002) and is thus one of the oldest landscape protection areas in the Main-Tauber district .
history
Originally the protected landscape area comprised 5170 hectares. By ordinances of the Stuttgart regional council and the designation of new nature and landscape protection areas, the area has been reduced several times:
- By ordinance of October 22, 1984 ( Gutenberg nature reserve ), the area was reduced by 12 ha.
- By ordinance of November 30, 1985 ( Kembachtal landscape protection area ), the area was reduced by 2 hectares.
- By ordinance of October 6, 1986 ( Ellenberg-Kapf nature reserve ), the area was reduced by 18 ha.
- By ordinance of January 24, 1992 (amendment), the area was reduced by 173 ha.
location
The 3932 hectare nature reserve belongs to the Marktheidenfelder Platte. It is characterized by a typical Main Franconian red sandstone landscape.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of the characteristic landscape, its protection from pollution and its protection as a living and recreational area.
