The Gutenberg is a nature reserve in Dertingen , a district of Wertheim in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .

The nature reserve lies within the boundary of the Wertheim district of Dertingen.

history

With an ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the nature reserve Gutenberg of October 22, 1984 the reserve was designated. 6.3 hectares in the central and southern part had been under protection as Scholwald since 1975 ( Gutenberg forest reserve ).

The designation of the Gutenberg nature reserve reduced the area of the Wertheim nature reserve by 12 hectares.

Since 2002 there has been an experiment with donkey grazing. The black pine stocks were somewhat reduced by the forestry office.

Protection purpose

The protection purpose of the nature reserve is the preservation and care of a high-quality secondary biotope from a mosaic of locations and a flora and fauna that love warmth and drought. The maintenance goal is to keep the grassy areas open. This requires the thinning of pine, sloe and juniper from time to time (regional council Stuttgart).

description

The protected area is characterized by a rapidly changing mosaic of communities within the locality. It is an example of a high quality secondary biotope (quarry).
