Ellenberg-Kapf is a nature reserve in Dertingen , a district of Wertheim in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .

The nature reserve lies within the boundary of the Wertheim district of Dertingen.

history

With an ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the nature reserve Ellenberg-Kapf of October 6, 1986 the reserve was designated. Nine hectares in the north-west were already declared a forest in 1974.

The designation of the Ellenberg-Kapf nature reserve reduced the area of the Wertheim nature reserve by 18 hectares.

Protection purpose

The protection purpose of the nature reserve is the preservation of the light mixed deciduous forest with many rare plants, especially the diptam . The Schonwald was declared in 1974 with the aim of preserving the rare plant communities. In order to preserve the diptam occurrence, the forest has to be cleared from time to time (regional council Stuttgart).

description

The Ellenberg-Kapf area is characterized by an exposed southern part (Kapf) of the Ellenberg, on lower shell limestone with extremely poor growth, a coppice forest with many rare plants, a steppe heather and a pine forest. Extensive maintenance is required to maintain the area.
