Steinriegellandschaft between Weikersheim and Elpersheim is a nature reserve on the boundaries of the city of Weikersheim and its Elpersheim district in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

By regulation of the regional council of Stuttgart on the nature reserve Steinriegellandschaft between Weikersheim and Elpersheim of December 28, 1995, a protected area with 77.3 hectares was designated.

Protection purpose

"Protection purpose is:

• the preservation of a stone bar slope typical of the Tauberland as a landscape-defining element and cultural-historical evidence of a centuries-old type of use,
• the preservation of a diverse structural pattern, consisting primarily of extensively used meadows, orchards, stone bars, hedges, trees, heather areas, forest and bush zones as a habitat for numerous characteristic animal and plant communities with sometimes highly endangered species,
• the preservation of stone bars of different sizes and different scopes with different plant communities of different succession stages and the respective fauna for scientific reasons,
• the preservation of the landscape ensemble, which is an essential part of the baroque gardens of Weikersheim Palace ”( LUBW ).
