Birkenberg is a nature reserve within the boundaries of the city of Bad Mergentheim and its Edelfingen district in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

By ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the nature reserve Birkenberg of October 14, 1982 a reserve with 26 hectares was designated.

Protection purpose

"Protection purpose is the preservation of the valuable flora and fauna as well as the landscape" ( LUBW ) of the Birkenberg.

Flora and fauna

It is an east-exposed, shallow dry slope, partly without a humus layer. Different stages of succession alternate with forest areas. The dry grass areas are of the greatest importance.
