Apfelberg is a nature reserve on the outskirts of the Werbach district of Gamburg in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .
In Baden-Württemberg there is an apple mountain nature reserve with the same name in the district of Karlsruhe. It bears the SGB no. 2,217 .
history
By regulation of the regional council of Stuttgart on the nature reserve Apfelberg of April 11, 1978, a reserve of 22.5 hectares was designated.
Protection purpose
"The main protection purpose is the preservation of the scenic diversity and beauty of the top of the apple mountain with its slopes as a particularly valuable habitat of species-rich, warmth and drought-loving flora and fauna" ( LUBW ).
Flora and fauna
Hilltop (380 m) made of wave dolomite and limestone, on the wooded north slope a blanket of Pleistocene loess, on the south slope earlier vineyards. Forest-free area with blue-grass lawn or semi-arid lawn in which feather-twinkles predominate. Thermophilic sedge-beech forest on the northern slope. In the semi-arid grass there is a hint of woody plants. Various pine trees.
