With an ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the nature reserve Hunsenberg from May 30th 1975 the reserve was designated.

Protection purpose

With the protection, the uniqueness and scenic beauty of the steep southwest slope of the Hunsenberg with its remarkable dry grass - here in particular the rich occurrence of the rare feather grass - and the characteristic dry bushes are to be preserved. This uncultivated slope is an important habitat for warmth-loving, sometimes rare plant and animal species (Stuttgart Regional Council).

flora

The Hunsenberg is a steep, south-west exposed slope in the Taubertal. It is located on the edge of the Main Franconian dry area. The dry hillside bushes consist of barberry, privet, dogwood, cork-elm, sloe, juniper and various types of roses. Along the slope, the bushes alternate with the Main Franconian dry lawn and the ciliate grass field.

fauna

The animal world of the Hunsenberg has not been extensively studied. A third of the 69 species identified are on the Red List of Threatened Species .
