The Edelberg is a nature reserve in Sachsenflur in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .

geography

The nature reserve is located in the Sachsenflur district, a district of Lauda-Königshofen . There are three brooks, the Balbach, the Umpfer and the Schüpfbach, near the nature reserve .

history

With an ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the Edelberg nature reserve of June 9, 1978, the 4.2 hectare reserve was designated.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is to preserve the scenic uniqueness of the Edelberg and thus to protect the particularly species-rich western slope. This is ideal for heat-loving and dry-living plant and animal species.

Flora and fauna

The Edelberg is home to a large number of plants that are worth protecting. Home are here the Common Frans gentian ( Gentianopsis ciliata ), lime aster ( Aster amellus ), blood cranesbill ( Geranium sanguineum ) Ordinary Kuhschelle ( Pulsatilla vulgaris ), Berg-thesium ( Thesium bavarum ), Narrow-flax ( Linum tenuifolium ), mosquito Händelwurz ( Gymnadenia conopea ) Greenish butterfly orchid ( Platanthera chlorantha ), fly orchid ( Ophys insectifera ), Bumblebee orchid ( Ophys holoserica ) and military orchid ( Orchis militaris ).

The animal world of the Edelberg has not yet been explored much. Well-known animals or insect species are the Alexis blue , the cranesbill blue , tooth-wing blue .
