The Leidenrain is a nature reserve in Wertheim in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .
geography
The nature reserve lies within the boundaries of the city of Wertheim.
history
With an ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the nature reserve Leidenrain from May 8th 1942 the reserve was designated. This makes it the oldest nature reserve in the Main-Tauber district .
Protection purpose
With the protection status, eyrie trees for gray herons are to be protected. In addition, the remaining high forest remains are to be preserved for re-colonization by the gray heron. In this area, the floristically and ecologically important forest communities are also in need of protection (regional council Stuttgart).

flora
Leiden Rain is characterized by a melic - Buchwald with 100-year-old oak and a small-leaved lime-rich Niederwalddenkmal . The area lies on a steep eastern slope to the Main .
fauna
There used to be a colony of gray herons in the area.
