The Igersheim area is a landscape protection area of almost 500 hectares in the area of the cities of Bad Mergentheim and Igersheim in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . It was designated by ordinance of August 1, 1979 (LSG number 1.28.004) and is therefore one of the oldest landscape protection areas in the Main-Tauber district .
history
Originally the protected landscape area comprised 665 hectares. By ordinances of the Stuttgart regional council and the designation of new nature reserves, the area was reduced:
- By ordinance of October 31, 1984 ( Neuhaus nature reserve ), the area was reduced by 51 ha.
- By ordinance of November 6, 1985 ( Altenberg nature reserve ), the area was reduced by 87 ha.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of the characteristic landscape, the preservation of the open space between Bad Mergentheim and Igersheim and the protection of the area as a living and recreation area.
