Wayside cross

The Crossroads High Street is in the district Wanlo in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ).

The cross was built in the early 20th century. It was entered in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach on August 18, 1994 under No. H 090 .

location

The property is located at the confluence of the 'Im Tal' road with Hochstraße east of the center of Wanlo.

architecture

It is a crossroads on an approximately square base plate with a multi-segmented substructure. A four-sided gabled middle section with pointed arch niches and a console-supported plate rises above a multi-segmented bell ledge ( carnies ) The base of the crucifix is ​​designed as a segmented, profiled shaft part, the shaft cross has a metal body and shows beveled beam ends.

The lower part bears the inscription :

O Christian: Here think / What a gift: / Your God for you / On the cross hangs:

The pointed arch niche on the front bears the inscription: My Jesus Mercy!
