Wegekreuz Schmiedegasse (Eschweiler over Feld)
The listed Schmiedegasse crossroads is located in Eschweiler above Feld , the second largest district of the municipality of Nörvenich in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia .
Schmiedegasse was the main exit from the town in a southerly direction to Gut Hommelsheim or Frauwüllesheim until the bypass was built . The approximately 3 m high cross made of Belgian granite stands at the confluence with Pfarrer-Legemann-Straße. The label reads:
"TAKE YOUR KREUTZ ON YOURSELF AND FOLLOW ME."
On the lower board it says:
“ERECTED BY JOH IN THE GLORY OF GOD. WILH. SCHORN AND MARGARETHA TITZ EHELEUTH IN ESCHWEILER ANNO 1841. "
The cross is popularly called Hommelshemer Krözzje (Hommelsheimer Kreuzchen). It was foot drop station 2.
The wayside cross was entered on March 11, 1985 in the monument list of the municipality of Nörvenich under No. 21.
