The cross made of red sandstone stands a few meters west of the German Wine Route at the northern exit of Deidesheim in the hallway "In der Maushöhle". The cross is marked on the back of the base with "Kern Speyer."; its creator was probably the sculptor Carl Kern .

The inscription "AVE CRUX, SPES UNICA" can be found in the base.
