Jan Rathjen

Jan Rathjen (born July 18, 1975 ) is a German basketball official and trainer.

career

 Rathjen from Bensberg worked as an assistant coach at Bundesliga club Mitteldeutscher BC in the 2000/01 season and was appointed head coach in March 2001 at the age of 25 after Frank Menz's dismissal and led the "wolves" into the playoffs. After the end of the season he was  replaced as coach by the American Tom Schneeman .

In the late summer of 2002 Rathjen took up the managerial position at the second division club Eisbären Bremerhaven . After Eisbären Bremerhaven Marketing GmbH was founded in spring 2003, he became managing director of the company, which from then on took over the team's game operations. In 2005 Bremerhaven rose to the basketball league  . His tenure also included reaching the Bundesliga semi-finals in 2006 and 2010.

Rathjen announced at the beginning of May 2017 that he would be terminating his activities in Bremerhaven on June 30, 2017.
