The Wehrtechnische Dienststelle für Informationstechnologie und Elektronik ( WTD 81 ) is an authority in the organizational area of ​​equipment, information technology and use (AIN) of the Bundeswehr . The Wehrtechnische Dienststelle works on a broad technical spectrum from the areas of information acquisition, information transmission, information processing and also some special areas such as electromagnetic compatibility, fire control technology, navigation and testing technology. history

In 1960, a decree by the Federal Minister of Defense laid the foundation for the establishment of a testing center for telecommunications and electronics (ErpSt 81). This was opened on September 1, 1964 in Greding and in 1987 renamed the Defense Technical Center for Telecommunications and Electronics (WTD 81). Since 2003 it has been called the Defense Technical Center for Information Technology and Electronics . The first head of department in 1961 was Alfred Forstmeyer .
