The White Deer is a rocky cliff with a viewpoint in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the area of the city of Thale to the east above the district of Treseburg .

The lookout point is at a height of 425 meters. From the vantage point, which is provided with two benches and secured with a railing, there is a view over the town of Treseburg, located to the west in the Bode valley, about 150 meters below, as well as the surrounding mountain ranges up to the Brocken . A hiking trail leads east of the White Deer from Treseburg to the Hexentanzplatz .

The white stag is integrated under the number 67 in the system of the Harz hiking pin.

The name White Deer is probably related to a legend of the same name. After that, two Venetians were resting on a treasure hunt on the edge of the forest near Treseburg when a white stag hunted by hunters broke out of the thicket and after a short hesitation continued its flight down steeply into the Luppbode valley . The Venetians chased the deer, but it disappeared without a trace in the upper Tiefenbach valley. Many ore veins were later discovered at the place of his disappearance. The deer is said to have been an enchanted hunter. For many years to come, the stag reappeared at the place of its disappearance on June 24th, St. John's Day.
