Wei-T'o plant

The Wei-T'o system is a mass deacidification system developed by Wei T'o Associates, Inc. ( Seattle ) , which went into operation in 1981 at the Canadian National Library in Ottawa . It was developed in collaboration with the National Library of Canada and the National Archives in Ottawa, Canada.

Wei T'o Associates, Inc. was founded on April 27, 1972 by Richard D. Smith in Seattle, Washington . After training as an engineer and chemist in 1972, Smith developed a mass deacidification process on a non-aqueous basis, which became known as the Wei-T'o process .
