The Weichtal in Lower Austria is an approximately three kilometer long side valley of the Höllental on the southeast side of the Schneeberg massif next to the Weichtalhaus , in the immediate vicinity of the Großer Höllental . Most of the valley floor is shaped like a gorge and therefore this part of the valley is also known as the Weichtalklamm .

description

The valley initially runs strictly in a north-south direction and after about a third it swings slightly to the east. In the west it is bounded by the Schwarzkogel (913 m) and the Krenkenkogel (1183 m); to the east through the Schönleitenschneid (1627 m) and the Lärchkogelgrat, with a small side valley formed between these two. The beginning of the valley is on the left side of the Schwarza at the Weichtalhaus ( 547  m above sea level ). The end of the valley is about a hundred meters below the Turmstein or the Kienthalerhütte (1380 m).

Weichtalklamm-Steig

One of the "obstacles" in the Weichtalklamm

The soft Talk lamb climbing is a simple fixed rope the difficulty level A / B . Individual sections are secured by ladders, chains and short steel ropes and therefore require surefootedness, in between the path also leads through walking terrain.

The entrance is directly at the Weichtalhaus. The exit takes place on a forest road at an altitude of about 1200 meters. From here you can descend to the starting point via the Ferdinand-Mayr-Weg, which runs west of the valley, or via a rocky forest path to the Kienthalerhütte. Right above the forest road on the way to the Kienthalerhütte there are two memorial plaques for the deceased and a few meters further there is the Jakobsquelle with a small water trough .
