Naval training regiment

The naval training regiment was a training unit of the Federal Navy . It was set up in Wilhelmshaven on July 15, 1956 under the name ship regiment and later moved to Glückstadt an der Elbe. On July 15, 1959, it was renamed the Naval Training Regiment and disbanded on December 31, 1972.

Leadership and subordination

The naval training regiment was initially subordinate to the command of naval training and changed on February 1, 1962 to the resulting Central Naval Command . As of October 1, 1965, it was under the Inspectorate for Education in the Navy in the Naval Office . The regiment was led by a commander with the rank of sea ​​captain .

The regiment was subordinate to four ship master departments (SStA), which on July 15, 1959 in 1. – 4. Marineausbildungsbataillon (MAusbBtl) and on September 1, 1966 in Marineausbildungsbataillon 1–4 were renamed. These battalions were responsible for basic military and nautical training . In addition, from March 29, 1961 to September 30, 1965, the regiment was subordinate to the Naval NCO School in Plön .

Naval Training Company / Naval Training Battalion 1

On January 16, 1956, the Marine Training Company was set up in Wilhelmshaven as the first unit of the new German Navy . It was already disbanded on April 30, 1956 and reorganized as the 1st Ship Mastery Department on May 1, 1956 and placed directly under the command of naval training until the Ship Mastery Regiment was established. On October 1, 1960, it was relocated to Eckernförde . As a teaching group for basic training , it was placed under the Naval Telecommunications School on December 31, 1972 at the same location .

Naval Training Battalion 2nd

The Naval Training Battalion 2 was set up on July 1, 1956 as the 2nd ship trunk division in Glücksburg - Meierwik and disbanded on September 30, 1969. Its duties were taken over by the seamanship teaching group set up in Borkum on October 1, 1969 .

Naval Training Battalion 3rd

The Naval Training Battalion 3 was set up on July 16, 1956 as the 3rd ship trunk division in Glückstadt. After the dissolution of the naval training regiment, this battalion existed until September 30, 1973 and was subordinated to the Naval Coast Service School , to whose basic training teaching group it was then converted.

In Naval Training Battalion 3, all officer candidates of the Navy received their basic military training . The infantry basic training took place on the training area Nordoe , the shooting training on the shooting range Basten.

Naval Training Battalion 4th

The naval training battalion 4 was set up on April 3, 1956 as the 4th ship trunk division in Eckernförde and was initially directly under the command of naval training. In December 1957 it moved to Brake (Unterweser) , where from January 1, 1973 it was assigned to the Technical Naval School II as a teaching group for basic training .

5. Ship master department

From 1957 to 1959 there was a 5th ship master division , to which the naval members in foreign training were subordinate.
