The NCO School ( MUS ) in Plön is the NCO school of the German Navy . She reports to the Head of Personnel, Training, Organization in the Marine Command in Rostock .
history
In the early days of the newly established German Navy , NCO training took place in Cuxhaven from 1956 and in Eckernförde from 1957 to 1960. The aforementioned NCO training was finally relocated to the Ruhleben barracks in Plön (directly on the Großer Plöner See ) in 1960 .
This barracks was built in 1938 and taken over by a naval non-commissioned officer training department. After the end of the war, it served the British Army as headquarters in Schleswig-Holstein until 1948 , after which the barracks served as a boarding school for children of the British armed forces ( King Alfred School and Windsor Girls School ).
On January 2, 2018, a 7th inspection belonging to the MUS was set up at the Putlos site (Wagrien barracks). In the course of the trend reversal, it is intended to enable personnel to gradually grow in strength and is in particular charged with the implementation of country-specific training (ELUSA), additional shooting training and infantry training for the officer candidates. The first head of inspection was Lieutenant Siegfried.
assignment
The aim of the training and education work is to form a superior whose thoughts and actions are based on the principles of our constitution, law and order. This superior must be able to lead and train soldiers and want to identify with the task as a comrade, person of trust and reference. That means: the military subordinate must be able to apply the principles of internal leadership . He must be able to exemplify attitude and fulfillment of duty and identify with his soldier profession out of inner conviction. However, the Portepée NCOs who have already been tried and tested in the troops, from the captain onwards, have the opportunity for further training. For this group of people, four-week training seminars are regularly offered to familiarize them with innovations, changes or fundamental considerations of naval command. Today the career courses for mate , bosun , reserve mate and reserve bosun and basic military training for the German Navy are carried out.

Further education
- At times, officer candidates are and have been trained by the naval non-commissioned officer school. For example, the basic training of candidate officers took place at the MUS from time to time. Today the officer candidates of the Navy , who receive their remaining training at the Naval School Mürwik , complete part of the basic training here as well as the approximately three-week basic infantry training. This training is continuously examined by the Social Science Institute of the Bundeswehr through scientific studies.
- Since 2007, MUS has also been training naval cooks, known as smuts . For this purpose, a new teaching kitchen was built. This training was previously carried out at the Naval Supply School .
