Naval weapons school
The Marine Weapons School (MWaS) was the central training facility of the German Navy for ship weapons and ammunition from October 1, 1974 to December 31, 2003, with one teaching group each in Eckernförde and in Kappeln . As part of the reorganization of the Navy's school landscape, the Naval Technology School took on the technical training and the Naval Operations School took on the operational and tactical training. The property in Eckernförde was retained and was added to the Eckernförde naval base command. The barracks and civil buildings in Kappeln were taken over by the Federal Property Administration and then sold to private investors. It is planned to build the “Schlei Terraces” there.
