Naval Arms Command

The Navy Weapons Command was a specialized command of the Federal Navy that was responsible for all armament matters. Schools and test centers for naval weapons were subordinate to him.

history

The naval weapons command was set up in Kiel on June 1, 1956 and was under the command of naval training . In the course of a reorganization of the Navy, it was assigned to the newly established Central Naval Command from February 1, 1962 and renamed Command of Naval Weapons . In a further reclassification, it was incorporated into the newly established Naval Office on October 1, 1965 as an inspection of naval weapons and moved to its headquarters in Wilhelmshaven on March 1, 1966 .

With the establishment of the command for troop tests of the Navy on September 1, 1968, the test centers were subordinated to this command. On September 30, 1973 the Naval Office was reorganized. All inspections, including the inspection of naval weapons, were dissolved and their tasks were divided between the naval training and naval armaments departments.
