Private of a 20 series of uses

The usage series (short form: VR ) identifies teams and NCOs of the German Navy as belonging to a certain specialist area of responsibility. The range of uses is identified by round patches or metal pins on the sleeves of the sailor's blouses as well as the suit jackets and the epaulets on the service suit.

At the service suit (blue) of the enlisted the patch is below the rank badge sewn in NCOs without Portepee in the middle and at NCOs with Portepee above the rank badge. It is dark blue in color, consists of the same fabric as the suit and is executed with gold-colored embroidery . The patches on the white blouses are white with dark blue embroidery. The shoulder flaps of the service shirts are designed accordingly.

Area of application seafaring service (10er)

Members of the maritime service perform activities on and below deck that are necessary for the safe navigation of the waters, including general routine work on board a ship.

Area of application naval command service (20s)

The persons entrusted with the naval command service should u. a. ensure the communication and management of the ship (also within the ship formation).

Specialists work here in dealing with artillery, torpedo, mines, missiles and ammunition, which are supposed to ensure combat capability.

Operation, maintenance and repair of ship technology and ship electronics is the task of soldiers of the marine technology service.

Badges for officers and officer cadets

Officers and officer cadets are not classified according to a series of assignments. There are career badges for them . Officers or cadet officers of the troop service or the military technical service wear a five-pointed star (starfish), which points upwards with one point. Medical officers or medical officer candidates the Aesculapian staff with snake, dentists also the snake on the staff, but only with two turns of the snake body and pharmacists only the snake pointing up from a flat bowl. The coloring corresponds to the use as described above. The badge of the officers of the military music service shows a lyre , officers of the military geographic service wear a badge that shows a stylized globe and the lettering "GEO" in the middle.
