The inland dunes Nordoe are a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein communities of Dägeling , Kremperheide and Breitenburg in the Steinburg district .

The 407 hectare nature reserve is registered under number 207 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Digitization . It was designated in 2013 (date of regulation: March 6, 2013). The nature reserve is to a large extent part of the FFH area of the same name . In the south it borders partly to the conservation area "Geesthang at Dägeling with Bock wiper Moor". The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Steinburg district.

The nature reserve is located south of Itzehoe in the area of ​​the Münsterdorfer Geestinsel . It turns a formerly as training area occupied inland dune area with adjacent forest and grassland areas under protection. The open land areas in the nature reserve are characterized by dunes, dry grass and wet and dry heather. The areas are partly covered with bushes. In addition, there are grassland areas that are extensively used as hay meadows and pastures and near-natural deciduous forest stands in the protected area. Parts of the open land areas with Robust cattle as Galloway and Highlands and wild horses and Boer goats grazed to a bush encroachment to prevent and roll back existing trees. De-fluffing measures also serve the same purpose . Furthermore, woody growth at the edges of the water is pushed back and the water is desludged.

The different habitats in the nature reserve provide a suitable habitat for a rich variety of flora and fauna: dry meadows , sandy heaths and dunes are a habitat for many butterflies , including fritillary, fritillary, Bläulinge , blood droplets and Rhagades Pruni . The sand biotopes are also suitable habitat for nest building for sand bees , silk bees , furrow bees and blood bees as well as sand wasps . Also locusts are numerous in the meadow and heath areas. In 2017, twenty young sand lizards were released in the nature reserve to reintroduce the animals.

The waters are habitat of different dragonflies , including Vierfleck , Plattbauch , Heidelibelle- and Hawker types , Great Emperor Dragonfly , large white-faced darter , tailed Damselfly , white-legged damselfly , Teichjungfer- and Azurjungfer species and serve amphibians such as ponds and great crested newt , garlic and natterjack toad and grass and Moor frog as spawning water. Horsetail and sedges settle in the water and bank area . To strengthen the toad populations, a total of over 2,300 young garlic and natterjack toads were released in 2017 and 2018.

On poor soils settle silver grass , bent grass , Draba Verna , Frühlingsspörgel , sand straw flower , mountain sand bells , milkwort , Broadleaf thyme and Real Moonwort . In wet locations, including at temporary ponds, settling Lysimachia minima , dwarfs , Lythrum Portula , ranunculus flammula , Veronica scutellata , onion rush , isolepis setacea , whirlwind cartilage Minimize , Forest lousewort , Middle and Sundew and Moorbärlapp .

The dwarf shrub heaths are in dry locations of heather and wet locations of bell heather dominated. Blue piping grass , common cat paws and lung gentian join in in damp locations . Common broom , English gorse and hairy gorse also settle on dry heathland . Furthermore, this dog violets , Arnica and Devil's find. The lower salsify also occurs in places . There are also Centaury , Large Klappertopf and Small Wintergreens in the nature reserve .

The area is looked after by the Schleswig-Holstein Nature Conservation Foundation , which has leased around 390 hectares of the area. Parts of the area are also used for local recreation .

In the far north-west of the nature reserve it is crossed by the Elmshorn – Westerland / Tondern railway line, known as the Marschbahn , or borders on it. In the northeast, the siding for the cement works and the chalk pits in Lägerdorf crosses the protected area. The nature reserve borders in places on settlement areas in Kremperheide and Nordoe. In the north it borders on the area of ​​the former Freiherr von Fritsch barracks .
