Weigelswalde

Weigel forest or Weicholdswalde is a Ortswüstung in the area of City Altenberg ( District Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains ).

The place was in the forest north of Altenberg. In Weigel Walde, individual goods and three were outworks and two mills. The administrative affiliation was with the office Altenberg . In 1764 there were 1¼ Hufen in the village, in 1834 43 people lived here. From the middle of the 19th century , the tradition broke off.

In 1449 the place was known as Weigelswalde , 1462 as Wickeswalde and 1464 as Weigißwalde . In 1465 the place was called Wirkeßwalde and in 1491 Weygelswalde . In the 17th century the tradition of the name changed to Weicholdswalde (1687), Weigoldswald, near Altenberg [...] three Forwerge (1791) and Weichholdswälder Vorwerke (1834) in this forest .
