Julie Robière receives a visit from her married sister Henriette Létoré. During the evening conversation in the living room, Ms. Robière notices that her sister's hair, although she is only 24 years old, already has white streaks. Ms. Létoré confesses to her sister that she cheated on her husband even though she loves him. He's older and less passionate than her. During a trip to Flüelen , she went for a walk on the shores of the lake not far from the hotel where she stayed with her husband. The full moon created a romantic mood. She met a young lawyer who, when he noticed that she was crying, tried to comfort her and read her poems by Alfred de Musset . They experienced a passionate love adventure. After that, they only saw each other once on the day the Létorés left. Ms. Robière replied that sometimes a woman doesn't love a man but love, and that that evening the moon was the sister's lover.
