Wine festival of the Middle Moselle
The Middle Moselle wine festival in Bernkastel-Kues is a five-day event that always takes place on the weekend around the first Sunday in September in Bernkastel-Kues. During this wine festival , the mayor's authority over the city is withdrawn and transferred to the Mosella , the local wine queen of Bernkastel-Kues. The festival has around 200,000 visitors annually, making it the largest wine festival in the entire region.
procedure
The festival section on the Wine Route is open from Thursday evening to Monday , where wine villages from the surrounding region on the Middle Moselle open their stands and offer food and drinks. The section of the Weinstrasse is closed to car traffic from the Bernkasteler side to the end of the village in the direction of Graach .
Brilliant fireworks , winegrowers' parade, handicraft market and wine-happy hustle and bustle on the wine route and the squares in the old town as well as the large amusement park are the attractions of the largest wine festival in the Moselle region.
On the "Wine Route of the Middle Moselle", on the historical market square and on the "Karlsbader Platz", well-known Riesling wines from individual locations such as "Kueser Kardinalsberg", Bernkasteler Doctor , Wehlener Sundial , "Mülheimer Sonnenlay", "Graacher Himmelreich", " Ürziger Würzgarten «or» Brauneberger Juffer «are presented.
The wine festival opens on Thursdays with a wine tasting evening at all wine stands. Since 2012, the Moselle Flower Evening has also been held on Thursdays. Many female visitors appear in the traditional Moselle costume, the so-called Moselle flower . Male visitors wear a winegrower's smock with a red bandana.
Further highlights are the brilliant fireworks from Landshut Castle and the banks of the Bernkastel Moselle on Saturdays, as well as the colorful vintner's parade on Sundays with around 100 groups from home and abroad. Top music performances are offered on Marktplatz and Karlsbader Platz.
The fairground on the Kueser side on the Moselle parking lot opens on Friday at noon and closes on the following Tuesday.
Various musical groups play in the city's squares throughout the event.
