The Josef Spreitzer winery is a winery in Oestrich in the German wine-growing region Rheingau . It has been part of the Association of German Predicate and Quality Wineries since 1999 .

history

The winery is one of the oldest businesses in Oestrich; grapes have been processed here since 1641. A vaulted cellar for wine storage, built in 1743, still exists today. The administration is located in a renovated Wilhelminian style villa near the Rhine . The estate was run by Bernhard Spreitzer, who handed it over to his sons Andreas and Bernd Spreitzer in 1997.

Locations

The estate has an area of 17 hectares, of which 97% are planted with Riesling and 3% with Pinot Noir. The vines are grown naturally by planting the rows and sown winter grain . The best-known locations are Doosberg , Oestricher Lenchen , Winkeler Jesuitengarten and Hattenheimer Wisselbrunnen . The predicate wines are picked by hand, which means that only ripe grapes are pressed. The must is pre-clarified and then fermented as spontaneously as possible in wooden barrels and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks . The Spreitzer winery has been a member of the Charter wineries since 1988.

The wines , both dry and semi-dry and fruity expanded . The estate's noble sweet and ice wines regularly receive high ratings in the wine guides . In 2005 the winery was rated with four Gault Millau grapes for the first time, making it one of the leading quality wineries in the Rheingau. The cellar master is Andreas Spreitzer.
