Location and production

The 11 locations of the Skoff family are located on a total of 70 hectares within a radius of 15 kilometers from the winery (as of 2012). The best-known locations are Hochsulz, Obegg, Kranachberg and Grassnitzberg. The majority of the vineyards, namely 92 percent, are planted with white grape varieties, including above all Welschriesling , Gelber Muskateller and Sauvignon Blanc , but also Pinot Blanc , Morillon and Pinot Gris are grown. There is also a little Zweigelt and, if the vintage permits, a Trockenbeerenauslese .

The most important grape variety is Sauvignon Blanc, which takes up 40 percent of the vineyard area. It is produced in five different stages of development (apart from sweet wine and sparkling wine) and has Walter Skoff the nickname “Mr. Sauvignon ”. In 2009, the "Walter Skoff" line was expanded to include the "Skoff Original" premium line, which includes not only classic wines but also all local wines.
