history

The Schwiessel estate was owned by the von Negendanck family in the 14th century . In 1561 Joachim von Negendanck sold the property to Dietrich von Bevernest. In 1667 the estate again fell to the Negendanck family. In 1732 Berthold Diedrich von Negendanck sold Schwiessel to Hans Heinrich von Levetzow .

Hans Heinrich von Levetzow and his wife Anna Dorothea von Plessen (from the house of Gottesgabe ) had their manor house built as an unplastered half-timbered building from 1732 to 1735 on the remains of the foundations of a house from the 13th century; The alliance coat of arms of the Plessen and Levetzows above the entrance portal still reminds of the family who built the house.

Field Marshal Johann Ludwig von Wallmoden-Gimborn became landlord zu Schwiessel in 1782; In 1838 the Mecklenburg-Schwerin Chamberlain Adolph Christian Ulrich von Bassewitz was enfeoffed with the estate. In the 1860s, Henning von Bassewitz had a new castle-like mansion built in the Tudor style (location) on the estate ; the old half-timbered manor house was used as an estate manager's house from this time on. From 1927 to 1933 Werner von Kieckebusch , farmer, historian, genealogist and diary author lived there with his family. Gut Schwiessel remained in the possession of the von Bassewitz family until it was expropriated in 1945 .

The new one is currently being rebuilt and the old Schwiessel manor house was restored in proper style by a private owner as early as 1996. Today it houses the Schwiessel hunting school and a guesthouse.

The historic half-timbered manor house from 1735 and the construction site of the new Schwiessel manor house are surrounded by a manor park that was laid out about 200 years ago on an area of six hectares.
