history

The company was founded in Kaiserslautern in 1864 by the brothers Karl and Jacob Pfeiffer . In the first few decades mainly steam engines were manufactured. To express their solidarity with their hometown Kaiserslautern, the company founders added the addition Barbarossawerke to the company name in 1871 . In the 1880s the company manufactured its first grinding plants. These were used to make Thomas flour . In addition, the company began producing separators - which are in the production program to date.

Director's villa (2014)

At the turn of the century , Gebr. Pfeiffer began manufacturing mills for hard grinding . The production of steam engines was given up around 1912. In 1909 the director's villa is built on the company premises. This still serves as office space for the management board and the supervisory board and is a listed building . In 1918, Oskar Pfeiffer, son of company founder Jacob Pfeiffer, took over the company. In 1921 the company was converted into a stock corporation.

In 1960 the first MPS key mill for raw material grinding in the cement industry was manufactured. In the following years MPS mills were developed and produced for coal grinding, limestone grinding and quick lime production. After the export quota rose to almost 80 percent in the 1970s, it was around 95 percent by the year 2000.
