Wellenklænge, Lunz am See

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

wellenklænge, Lunz am See is an annual music festival and was founded in 1997 by the set designer Suzie Heger. She was director of the festival from 1997 to 2017.

With the 2018 season, Suzie Heger handed over the management to the musician couple Julia Lacherstorfer and Simon Zöchbauer , who have both been closely associated with the festival for a long time and who have also played a number of roles on the lake stage in the past. The program of the festival can be classified between jazz, classical and contemporary music and visual arts. With the help of art in public space, numerous art projects have already been realized as part of the wellenklænge, such as the floating stage.

The floating stage

In 2004, with the help of "Art in Public Space" from the state of Lower Austria and the support of the municipality of Lunz am See, the floating stage was built, for which the festival is known today and which offers a unique backdrop for the concerts. The floating stage was built according to a design by the artist Hans Kupelwieser and is a hybrid construction that can be used both as a stage and as a bathing beach with a diving platform. The floating stage rests under the lake surface when bathing and can be brought out mechanically if necessary. The multi-level sun deck can be converted into a covered theater seating area.
