Kvamsgavlen (Norwegian for Saumtalgibel ) is a cliff in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . On the east side of the Alexander von Humboldt Mountains in the Wohlthat massif , it rises to the east at the southeast corner of the Storkvammen basin .
The cliff was discovered and photographed from the air during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also named it, mapped it on the basis of surveys and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
