Welser Profile , based in Ybbsitz (Lower Austria), is a manufacturer of open special profiles, welded profile tubes, assemblies and complete profile systems made of steel and non-ferrous metals. The company employs around 2500 people worldwide.
history
In 1664 the company was founded in the "Haus in der Au" in Ybbsitz (Lower Austria). In 1950 the production of pans, curry bars and other agricultural products began. 1959 was the commissioning of the first profiling line, the production of the first profile took place on May 1st 1960. Waltraud and Josef Welser laid the foundation stone for the economic upswing of the company. As the ninth generation in the company, they converted to a new forming technology in the early 1960s - roll forming .
In 1972 the first production hall was built in the neighboring village of Gresten . 1975 saw the establishment of the first sales branch in Switzerland. In Germany, two companies were taken over in 1999 and 2001 saw the opening of the third production plant in Bönen (Germany). In 2012 the company was restructured and the eleventh generation took over the management of the family company.
Waltraud Welser and her sons Wolfgang and Helmut Welser received the Silver Commander's Cross of the State of Lower Austria .
Welser Profile has sales offices worldwide. In 2018, the fourth production site, Superior Roll Forming - a special profile manufacturer based in Valley City, Ohio (USA), was taken over.
Key figures
Today around 90 high-performance profiling systems are in use on a total operating area of approx. 587,000 m². Steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals with a thickness of 0.3 to 8.2 mm and a width of up to 800 mm are processed.
