history
Welshpool Town was one of the founding members of the Cymru Alliance , the second-highest division in Wales , in 1990 . 1996 succeeded as the runner-up in the League of Wales, as the champions Oswestry Town was not eligible for promotion. In 1998 they rose as the penultimate again from the League of Wales and played again until 2002 in the Cymru Alliance.
In the 2001/02 season they were promoted to the top division again, but at the end of the 2002/03 season they were again on the penultimate place in the table, which would actually have meant immediate relegation. However, the club successfully protested the relegation, as the promoted Neath AFC was denied the license because their stadium did not meet the minimum criteria. After the club was still active for several years in the top division, he rose after the 2009/10 season after a reduction in the league in the Cymru Alliance . There followed another relegation the following year to the third-rate Mid Wales Football League Division One . In the 2011/12 season they finished last in the table, but remained in the league as there were no promoted from the underlying Division Two .
