World Cuddle Day

World hugging day (rare world hugging day , English National Hugging Day ) is a global day of action and is celebrated with hugs . It takes place every year on January 21st .

World Hugging Day was created by the American pastor Kevin Zaborney in 1986 and was first observed in the city of Caro , Michigan . Zaborney chose the midpoint between Christmas , the festival of love, and Valentine 's Day , the day of lovers, as the date, which is still in the wintertime, since the gloomy mood at this time has a strong influence on the emotional world.

The aim of the day is to be able to better express feelings in public and to get closer to each other. It has also been reported that when couples hug for 20 seconds, their oxytocin levels rise. Those couples who were in loving relationships had the strongest oxytocin surges.

The most huggable person of the year is also chosen and honored via the official website for World Hugging Day, which has been in existence since 2004.
