The World Humanitarian Day is an international day of action , is derjeniger thought of the humanitarian workers and who have lost their lives, while for humanitarian assistance inserting.

The designation of August 19 as World Humanitarian Day is the result of the efforts of the Sérgio Vieira de Mello Foundation and the Sérgio Vieira de Mellos family, in close collaboration with the ambassadors of France , Switzerland , Japan and Brazil .

Sérgio Vieira de Mello, a Brazilian devoted to serving the United Nations for over 30 years, has served in some of the world's most difficult humanitarian situations, reaching out to, alleviating their suffering and raising awareness of their plight to the voiceless victims of armed conflict make.
