Wenchi is a place in the Brong-Ahafo region in the West African state of Ghana . Wenchi is the capital of the Wenchi District .

At the last census of the country on March 26, 2000, there were 28,141 inhabitants in the city. Projections for January 1, 2007 estimate the population to be 32,735. In the 1984 census, 18,583 inhabitants were listed, in 1970 the population was 13,836.

The city is currently number 46 on the list of the largest cities in Ghana.
