Turning times. An Austrian interim report is a non-fiction book by Heinz Fischer , at the time of publication an SPÖ politician and first or second president of the National Council .

In the book, the author deals with the events surrounding the election to the National Council of October 3, 1999 and the events that followed. Using his private notes, Fischer explains the course of government negotiations between the SPÖ and the ÖVP and later the ÖVP and the FPÖ . It also offers insights into informal conversations and private meetings without being indiscreet. The book ends with the formation of the ÖVP-FPÖ coalition and an outlook into the possible future of Austrian politics.

criticism

The book was received positively from all sides. Even political opponents like Andreas Khol or Peter Westenthaler praised the work as factual and fair.
