Wenigen-Dornheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wenigen-Dornheim is a deserted area in the district of Dornheim in the Ilm district in Thuringia .

location

The Wenigen-Dornheim desert and the Kirchhof desert are located northwest of the Dornheim community between the village and the Dornheimer lower woods on the elongated north bank of the Wolfsbach .

Archaeological evidence

The first finds south of the Wolfbach were found from the Neolithic Age. During the construction of the Arnstadt - Stadtilm railway line in 1894, a body grave and a bronze vase-head needle and other finds were found. They were classified in the time 800 BC. Apart from a broken wall, there is no archaeological evidence of settlement up to the early Middle Ages .

Dorbencker III / 1925 No. 2082 wrote: Wenigen-Dornheim, today desolate, documented since 1252. Then in 1356 the evidence of minor Dornheim appears in a letter of indulgence next to Siegelbach as a branch village of the mother church Oberndorf . In conclusion, Wenigen-Dornheims was within the sphere of influence of the Counts of Käfernburg (Apfelstädt 1887) p. 58; Hannappel 1941 p. 321. In 1887, F. Apfelstädt proves p. 58 that traces of Wenigen-Dornheim were present, but wall remains, human bones, parts of agricultural implements etc. Müllerott reports on this.

Conclusion

  • Wenigen-Dornheim was located on the northern bank of the Wolfsbach, which is still elongated today, between Dornheim and Dornheim's lower woods.
  • Wenigen-Dornheim belonged to a settlement group of villages since the 12th century as the antipole of the Käfernburger to the Hersfeld village Dornheim.
  • When the Counts of Käfernburg died out in 1385, Wenigen-Dornheim lost its economic and political base.
  • The village was mentioned for the last time in 1394. The sudden decline in finds from the 15th century confirms the rapid process of desertification.
  • In 1520 the Oberndorf inheritance book reported about the deserted Dornheim.
