Wenceslaus Jorhan
Wenzeslaus Jorhan , also Johann Wenzeslaus Jorhan and Wenzeslaus Johann Jorhan (* around 1695 in Bilin ; † [buried] March 16, 1752 in Griesbach ) was a German sculptor .
The son of a sculptor and student of Ignaz Reiser married in 1718 in Vornbach Monastery and reached Griesbach in Lower Bavaria around 1720 on his wandering. In 1725 he bought a house there and founded a sculpture workshop. He mainly worked for church clients in Lower Bavaria .
His works include two side altars in the Schildthurn pilgrimage church , the high altar, the pulpit and (attributed to) the four side altars in the monastery church of Seligenthal monastery (1732–34) and the high altar of the pilgrimage church of Anzenberg near Massing (around 1746). Several of his archival works have not been preserved, including the St. Anna side altar in Kößlarn (1733). The high altar of the former Dominican Church in Landshut (1747–49) and the choir altar of St. Wolfgang bei Weng (1738) are ascribed to him . He was the father of the sculptor Christian Jorhan the Elder (1727-1804).
