Vera Alexejewna Kitschanowa ( Russian: Вера Алексеевна Кичанова ; born May 24, 1991 in Moscow ) is a Russian journalist, blogger and politician.

biography

Since the age of 14, Kitschanowa has published regularly in various newspapers and magazines. First she published regular columns from 2005 in the district newspaper Süd-Tuschino of the Moscow district of the same name.

In 2008, Kitschanowa began to study journalism at Moscow's Lomonosov University . She gained fame as a journalist since she wrote regularly for Novaya Gazeta , of which she was a freelancer for years (2009-2011). In Novaya Gazeta, she wrote mainly about youth policy, civil society, ecological issues and public rallies.

Since 2010, Kitschanowa has been the editor of the party newspaper Atlant of Либертарианская партия России ( Libertarian Party of Russia - LPR ).

2011–2012 she worked as a correspondent for the Russian-language edition of Voice of America .

Kitschanowa publishes in the Internet newspaper Grani.ru , has his own blog and a column on the Echo Moskwy website .

Political positions

Vera Kitschanowa has been a member of the LPR since 2010. At the party's first general assembly on February 19, 2011, she was elected a member of the party's Federal Committee.

Kitschanova became known to the general public in connection with President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow's Lomonosov University. The visit was announced as a meeting of the President with the students and was to take place in one of the university halls. Nevertheless, many students were denied entry to the hall. Kitschanova organized a small rally in front of the entrance, together with two fellow students she held up posters with questions for Medvedev: "Did you consult the Prime Minister before you came here?" "Spend?", "Why are you on Twitter and Khodorkovsky in prison?" After a short time, the students were arrested and released after several hours. Seventeen other students were arrested in the university building itself. The dean of the Faculty of Journalism at MGU came under great criticism after these incidents.

Electoral successes

In December 2011, Kitschanova announced that he would run for parliament in the Moscow district of South Tushino. On March 4, she was elected MP for South Tushino; she took 3rd place out of 4 elected candidates.

Participation in the protests against election fraud

Wera took part in the protests against the allegedly fake presidential elections in Russia in 2012 that followed the elections in March 2012. She also took part in the protests leading up to the inauguration of Vladimir Putin for his third term, which took place on May 6 and 7, 2012.
