Wera Lukjanowna Belik ( Russian Вера Лукьяновна Белик , Ukrainian Віра Бєлік / Wira Bjelik ; born June 12, 1921 in Ochrimiwka (Jakymiwka) ; † August 25, 1944 near Zambrów ) was a Soviet bomber pilot .

Wera Belik studied at the Moscow Pedagogical University . During the Second World War , she did military service with the night witches , which consisted of women only , who flew combat missions at night with simple Polikarpow Po-2 biplanes .

Wera Belik was shot down over Poland on her 813th mission.

Posthumously she was given the title Hero of the Soviet Union .
