Werk, Bauen + Wohnen ( own spelling werk, build + Wohnen ) is a Swiss trade journal . It is published ten times a year by Verlag Werk AG, Zurich and is devoted to current debates on architecture and urban planning. It is the official body of the Federation of Swiss Architects (BSA / FSA / FAS) and the Association of Swiss Interior Architects (VSI.ASAI) .

The magazine emerged in 1981 from the magazines Werk (or temporarily Das Werk ) and Bauen + Wohnen . A previous magazine was Schweizerische Baukunst , which appeared from 1908 to 1914. Werk first appeared in 1914 as an organ of the BSA founded in 1908 and the Werkbund founded in 1913 , directed by the editors Hans Bloesch and Hermann Röthlisberger.

In Building and Living were Alfred Altherr and Walter Frey founding editors. The magazine appeared from 1947 to 1981, initially every two months and from 1956 monthly. At times it came out in Zurich and Munich with different advertising pages depending on the country. According to Archinform , the topic number on structuralism was one of the major contributions by Bauen + Wohnen , which was published in January 1976 under the direction of editor Jürgen Joedicke .

Werk, Bauen + Wohnen is the most widely read architecture magazine in Switzerland and is also distributed abroad. 2017 is WEMF - certified edition 5,431 (PY 5'433.) Sold or 5'453 (PY 5'451.) Non copies. The text contributions are published in German, English and French. It is one of 15 specialist publications relevant for the BauNetz ranking.
