Work set

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Werksatz means the pleading of larger plants with extensive body text , for example, books and more extensive periodicals such as newspapers or magazines. Formulas can certainly appear in the work set, including illustrations, but no decorative elements such as contour set or background of the text with illustrations.

In the period of manual typesetting ( lead type ), Werksatz also referred to the department of a publishing or newspaper printing company that was responsible for the typesetting of regular printed works, the so-called "periodicals". Occasional and promotional typesetting, such as advertisements and business stationery, was not referred to as commercial but rather as commercial typesetting .

When creating work sets, programs such as LaTeX , TUSTEP , Arbortext 3B2 or FrameMaker are used in the scientific field , while in the publishing industry mostly classic typesetting programs such as Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress are used .
