Work mark

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the broadest sense, the work mark is a mark of origin . It is an expression for creation, property, type and possession and is to be understood as a copyright notice.

Work marks correspond to a signet or a brand . In contrast to a signet or brand, work marks can also be used for more complex technical coding. In this case they also have the function of an index to which further information is linked.

The work mark of the respective master builder or stonemason can often be found on historical buildings , which can also give a semiotic indication of his lodge affiliation . The permanently attached work symbol makes the building a reference object in the sense of self-promotion and belonging.

In the technical area, the work symbol is a reference to the manufacturer, type, property and type approval, or a construction manual ( carpentry ) to show constructive relationships in the workpiece. The term Werkzeichen is no longer widely used colloquially and creates a need for explanation in everyday language use. Even in the Duden there is no longer an entry.

Werkzeichen is a registered word mark.
