Imre Reiner

Imre Reiner (born August 18, 1900 in Versec , Vojvodina , Kingdom of Hungary ; † August 22, 1987 in Lugano , Switzerland ) was a Hungarian-Swiss painter, graphic artist and important type designer .

Life

After various stops in Europe and the USA, Imre Reiner lived near Lugano until his death.

He first attended the state sculpture school in Zalatna and the arts and crafts school in Frankfurt am Main . From 1921 he studied with Ernst Schneidler at the Stuttgart School of Applied Arts . In Weimar he met Paul Klee several times . From 1923 to 1927 he worked as a graphic artist in London, New York, Chicago and Paris. After his return to Stuttgart, he continued studying as a master student with Friedrich Hermann Ernst Schneidler . Imre Reiner lived in Paris from 1930, a year later he moved to Ruvigliana near Lugano (Ticino) and worked there as a painter, graphic artist, typographer and illustrator.
