Werner Achelis

Werner Achelis (born April 19, 1897 in Berlin ; † 1982 ) was a German writer and psychotherapist .

Life

Achelis came from a family of tanners, merchants and scholars who immigrated to Bremen from Rostock in the 17th century . His father was Professor Johann Achelis.

After attending school and the Gmynasium in Berlin, he took part in the First World War. He then studied philosophy in Berlin and Marburg. At the University of Marburg he was a student of Paul Natorp . After the philosophical state exam, he studied German literature and religious studies and a doctorate in 1922 for Dr. phil. He wrote several psychological studies and ran a psychotherapeutic practice in Berlin, where he lived at 7 Ofener Strasse.

In 1933 he joined the NSDAP . During the Second World War he worked as a research assistant at the university clinic for natural healing methods and then went to Hamburg, where he again worked as a resident psychotherapist.
